Developing an app to assess and keep track of one's mental health.

According to a recent survey, 56 million Indians suffer from depression and 38 million Indians suffer from anxiety disorders. Of these, less than half get any sort of treatment for their disorder. The primary reason Indians have poor mental health is the lack of awareness and sensitivity about the issue. There is a stigma associated with people suffering from any kind of mental health issue. They are often tagged as ‘lunatics’ by society. This leads to a vicious cycle of shame, suffering, and isolation for the patients.

Mental health includes our emotional, psychological, and social well-being. It affects how we think, feel and act, and also helps determine how we handle stress, relate to others, and make choices. Positive mental health can allow people to cope with any stress in life, work productively, and make meaningful connections with their family and friends. Our app would serve as your personalised journey to a healthy state of mind. It will combine digital therapy, guided journaling, and emotional analysis (future plan) to give you a new personalised digital therapy experience.

Problem Statement

Mental health, especially among young people, has a direct link to physical health and general wellbeing, yet it is not addressed by most health insurance companies. Young people often prioritise their physical health (exercise, diet, sleep), but do not put any conscious effort into improving their mental health. Especially in this Covid pandemic, when most of the countries went into lockdown, it is very easy for people to feel alienated, unmotivated, and stressed which when coupled with anxiety, overthinking and irritation have led few to self-harm with some even losing their lives to mental health.

Health-conscious individuals need a way to document and manage their mental health and wellbeing, because people want to live more mindfully in the long term. A creative solution is needed to incentivize and motivate young people between the ages of 18-35 to change their behaviour and get them to prioritise their mental health. So, we build an app that helps users achieve a state of balance in life and help them uplift their mood by monitoring and managing their holistic wellness over time.
